Sunday was our first glimpse of the year ahead. Both the relentless rain and wind decided to cease and was replaced by the glorious sunshine. In order to fully celebrate the beauty of the day we decided to leave our own bikes at home and headed down to BikeULike to hire their superbly restored, custom, vintage, French, single speed tandem!

For any of you who are tandem virgins we both highly recommend losing the L plates and inviting someone special to share the experience with you!

This is only our second tandem experience, but we loved it and have now vowed to make the weekend after Valentines Day Tandem Day and have a duel adventure every year.

The ride itself was flat and nearly entirely on cycle paths. Though we did experience one small hicup in the shape of yet another ‘Road Closed’ due to flooding sign.

It included the staple pub lunch, this time at the popular Royal Oak in Havant where we meet a couple who not only ride a tandem, but who’s sun has just ridden all the way to Australia!

Then was topped off on our return with the obligatory tea and cake at Southsea’s famous 10th Hole
