Despite today’s ride being one of the shortest of the trip so far at just 27km it was also one of the steepest with 646 meters of ascent!

It would take us up and over 3 back to back climbs from Franz Josef glacier to its sister Fox glacier.

After a few long flat stretches over the last few days it was good to have a few hills thrown into the mix.
As is the case with climbing on clear hot days, with the sun already high in the sky, I was soon dripping in sweat and giving both my Garmin and Revelate Gas Tank bag a full waterproof testing.
The views were great and counting down the k’s to the downhill didn’t take to long.

We soon had the Vally laid out beneath us stretching all the way to the sea in the distance.
Entering the township of Fox we both agreed it seemed much nicer the Franz and headed to the Top10 to check in. We were welcomed in by the manager Nick, who turned out to be a right ledge and got ourselves settled into our new home.
